Tribal villagers protesting on the highway.
Digital Desk, Gwalior. The anger of tribal villagers burst onto the streets on Sunday in protest against the increasing terror of wild animals in the Kuno National Park area of Sheopur district and the alleged false allegations being made by the Forest Department. Near Bansariya village on Karahal-Pohri highway, villagers kept the dead cow on the road and blocked it for about two hours.
The jam, which started at 10 am, continued till 12 noon, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway. Passengers faced a lot of problems and traffic came to a complete standstill.
Leopard terror, continuous death of cattle
Villagers say that leopards and other wild animals have been roaming freely around the villages in the Kuno area for a long time. Till now many cows and other cattle have become prey to leopards, which has directly affected the livelihood of tribal families. Despite this, neither compensation is being given on time nor adequate arrangements have been made for the safety of the cattle.
Village Sarpanch Mamta Adivasi told that recently the team of Kuno Sanctuary reached the village with the dog squad and searched every house. At that time most of the villagers were at work in the fields and forests, with many households containing only small children. Nothing objectionable was found in the investigation, yet serious allegations like hunting are being made against the tribal community.

Villagers allege that the villagers are being blamed for the incident of leopard being trapped near Bade Pond and Kamarmati Pond, while they have nothing to do with this incident.
Jam opened after assurance of compensation
During the demonstration, the villagers accused the Forest Department of negligence and said that instead of providing protection from wild animals, the department is busy blaming the villagers. As soon as the information about the jam was received, the police reached the spot, but the traffic could not be restored for a long time.
Later Tehsildar Roshni Shaikh and forest department officials reached the spot. The officials assured compensation for the loss of cattle as per rules and solution to the problem, after which the villagers ended the traffic jam and the traffic became normal.
