Digital Desk, New Delhi. US President Donald Trump has announced to reduce the reciprocal tariff imposed on India. Trump gave this information on his social media platform Truth Social. Now only 18 percent tariff will be imposed on goods exported to America. Trump said the United States would impose a lower reciprocal tariff, reducing it from 25% to 18%.
Earlier, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore had informed that there was a conversation between Prime Minister Modi and Donald Trump. However, at that time Sergio Gore did not give any additional information in this regard. But the language of this post was telling that Sergio and America are very excited about something. Now everything has become clear from Trump's post.
Trump himself gave information
Trump wrote on Truth Social, 'It was an honor for me to talk to Prime Minister Modi of India this morning. He is one of my best friends and a powerful and respected leader of his country. We talked about a wide range of issues, including trade, and ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. He agreed to stop buying Russian oil and buy much more from the United States and Venezuela.'
Trump further wrote, 'This will help end the ongoing war in Ukraine, in which thousands of people are dying every week! Out of friendship and respect for Prime Minister Modi, and with immediate effect at his request, we agreed to a trade deal between the United States and India under which the United States will impose lower reciprocal tariffs, reducing them from 25% to 18%. They will also similarly reduce their tariff and non-tariff barriers against the United States to zero.
Trump wrote, 'The Prime Minister also committed to Buy American on a very large level, in addition to more than $500 billion of American energy, technology, agriculture, coal and many other products. Our excellent relations with India will become even stronger in future. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people who get things done, which cannot be said for most people.
