The two-day 'Annual Rose Exhibition' has begun at the India-Africa Friendship Rose Garden, Chanakyapuri, with over 200 participants from across the country and over 70 varieties of roses from the institute showcasing 1,250 varieties of potted roses in different categories including standard, floribunda and miniature varieties.
These are pink, red, yellow, orange, blue, black, green, apricot, two-color, striped and blended scented. Similarly, cut flowers, planters, artistic bouquets, buttonholes, garlands, gajras and value-added rose products are also attracting people.
Among the special attractions are roses grown in greenhouses and cultivation of roses without soil. This exhibition will be open to the general public till 5 pm on Sunday.
Exhibition is organized every year in winter
This exhibition is organized every year in this winter season. This time it has been organized by NDMC in collaboration with The Rose Society of India, in which different types of artistry are being displayed to surprise and ameliorate the atmosphere of roses from all over the country.
This exhibition is divided into 22 classes and more than 175 sections. The special thing is that NDMC, CPWD, HUDA, PGI Chandigarh and Pusa institutes are participating in the rose competition of this exhibition. The presentation of Artistic Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, is also special.
Exhibition matching the vision of smart city
This exhibition was inaugurated by NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra on Saturday. He said that rose teaches the important lesson of continuing to grow with positivity despite difficulties in life. This flower blooms beautifully even among the thorns and captivates the hearts with its beauty and fragrance.
The exhibition aligns with NDMC's vision to transform New Delhi into a green, aesthetic and eco-friendly smart city. On this occasion, to generate interest in nature as well as roses, more than 50 students of NDMC and Navyug School took part in a painting competition on the theme of roses.
