Dialogue Associate, Kanpur. In the case of murder of Sonu Singh, 30-year-old son of Ramveer, resident of New Nanakari Madhavpuram, Kalyanpur, the police has arrested his nephew Atul Valmiki. Police investigation has revealed that first both of them drank alcohol and then due to a dispute over liquor money and abusing, the accused got angry and hit Sonu several times on the head with a brick and ran away from the spot, leaving him in a dying state.
On Wednesday, children playing cricket in an empty plot of New Nanakari Madhavpuram saw Sonu seriously injured, after which the relatives were informed. When the relatives reached the spot, a blood stained brick was also found nearby. After which Sonu was taken to CHC and then to LLR Hospital where he died during treatment. Police reached the spot after receiving the information and took possession of the body and got the post-mortem done. The post-mortem confirmed death due to head injury and excessive bleeding.
The deceased's brother Satish had filed a complaint expressing apprehension of his brother's murder. On which a case was registered and investigation was started. After investigating the incident site, the police station along with the ACP searched the CCTV cameras. Four friends of the deceased were interrogated. Investigation revealed that the crime was committed by Sonu's adopted nephew Atul Valmiki at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night. During police interrogation, accused Atul told that he used to call Sonu uncle. Both of them met at a liquor shop on Tuesday evening. Where both of them drank alcohol and then went towards home.
After this Sonu asked for money to drink alcohol, which he refused to give. On this Sonu started abusing and reached the nearby vacant plot. Sonu again abused him, on which he got angry and hit Sonu several times on the head with a brick lying nearby. Seeing the bleeding, he got scared and ran away from the spot.

During the investigation, there was a dispute with Atul Valmiki regarding demanding money for liquor and abusing him. After which he hit Sonu on the head with a brick. Due to which he died. At present, Atul Valmiki has been arrested from Nanakari Crossing and sent to jail.
