Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. Along with making traffic easier on national highways, better security arrangements are also being made. The National Highway Authority of India has started the process of installing CCTV cameras on the Bareilly-Sitapur Highway. It is being told that the executing organization has started conducting the survey. It is being claimed that cameras will be installed at major places from Bareilly to Sitapur.
In view of the problems in transportation by road to the capital Lucknow, the 157 km Bareilly-Sitapur highway has been four-lane. After completion of three years, repairs have also been done. Lights have been installed on the highway, but the process of construction of underpasses and flyovers is still going on at many places.
Commercial establishments have been encroached upon at various places along the highway. At some places hotels have opened, at some places petrol pumps and at some places sand and gravel shops are running. Last year, NHAI had issued notices to 450 people, encroachments were removed at some places with the help of police administration, but encroachments still persist.
For security, now NHAI has started the process of installing CCTV cameras on the highway. NHAI officials say that after selecting the institution, the survey work has been started. Cameras will be installed in cities, towns and major intersections located on highways. Here, efforts are also underway to convert this highway into six lane.
Last month, Divisional Commissioner Bhupendra S Chaudhary had also instructed NHAI officials to prepare DPR. Tenders have also been floated for making six lanes from Moradabad to Bareilly. Sixlane flyover is already being constructed at Navadiya Jhaada on the highway. In view of this, it is believed that the process of six-lane construction may also start soon.
