Jagran correspondent, Meerut. There are chances of rain in the city on Friday after 100 days. A strong western disturbance has arrived in the mountainous areas. There may be light to moderate rain in different parts of NCR in the next 24 hours.
The weather in the district has remained comfortable for four days. The weather being completely clear and sunny during the day is a relief from the harsh cold. On Thursday also the maximum temperature was recorded at 25.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 7.1 degrees Celsius.
Meerut received 21 mm of rain on October 8, 2025. After that it has drizzled once or twice but it has been negligible. There is less rainfall during these three months of winter but it has special importance for the crops. There is 21 mm rainfall in January.
Dr. Kanchan Singh, former chairman of the Geography Department of Meerut College, said that rain works to remove the layer of pollution in winter. Along with this, the rains of this season are considered favorable for the growth of wheat and sugarcane crops.
Dr. UP Shahi, in-charge of the weather center of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agricultural University, said that due to the effect of western disturbance, there is a possibility of good rain and snowfall in the mountains. The wait for rain in Meerut will end. It may rain on Friday. The maximum temperature may drop to 16 degrees Celsius. Due to which severe cold will be seen once again.
