Uttarakhand Ka Mausam The weather in Uttarakhand has once again taken a turn.

Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. Uttarakhand Ka Mausam: The weather in Uttarakhand has once again taken a turn. The cold increased due to snowfall in the hilly areas of the state and the beginning of rain in the lower areas.

Since Saturday night, most of the areas remained cloudy with intermittent showers, while on Sunday afternoon, light to moderate snowfall was seen on the higher peaks.

The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and snowfall in the hilly areas in the coming days. At the same time, a new western disturbance may become active again in the state on Tuesday.

On Sunday, rain continued in many parts of the state including Dehradun since morning. Amidst the dense movement of clouds, there were also reports of lightning and thunderstorms at some places. In the plains, maximum rainfall of 12 mm was recorded in and around Kashipur.

On the other hand, the higher peaks of the state including Chardham received light to moderate snowfall in two to three rounds. While the third snowfall of the season enhanced the beauty of the mountains, it also brought difficulties to the fore. Snow accumulation at many places blocked roads and affected traffic, while electricity, water and communication services were also affected in rural areas.

There was a lot of enthusiasm among the tourists due to snowfall in Chakrata and other hill stations. Tourists thoroughly enjoyed the fresh snowfall. At the same time, the local administration is busy removing snow from the roads in high altitude areas.

The effect of changing weather patterns was clearly visible on the temperature also. Cold day conditions prevailed in many plain areas of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, where due to lack of sunshine throughout the day and light rain, the temperature dropped by five to six degrees Celsius. In Dehradun too, the mercury dropped by two degrees amid partly cloudy sky and drizzle.

According to CS Tomar, Director of Meteorological Center, today there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall at some places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and snowfall in areas at a height of more than 2800 meters.

In Dehradun and Nainital too, there may be very light rain or snowfall at isolated places in the higher reaches, while the weather is expected to remain dry in the remaining districts. In view of the possibility of lightning along with thunder, a yellow alert has been issued in these five hilly districts.
