Digital Desk, New Delhi. The Central Government has issued new guidelines regarding 'Vande Mataram' on Wednesday morning. Under the new directive, it will now be mandatory to play 'Vande Mataram' in government programs, schools and many important events. Everyone will have to stand up and respect it, just like it happens during the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'. But this rule will not apply during movies in cinema halls.
Most importantly, the entire six verses of the song will be played, four of which were removed by the Congress in 1937. This decision is an attempt to bring back this song of the freedom struggle with its original power.
Under these new rules of the Union Home Ministry, 'Vande Mataram' will be played immediately after the national anthem. That means first then 'Jana Gana Mana'. This will be applicable in all government programs and schools.
'Vande Mataram' will be mandatory in government events
'Vande Mataram' will now also be played at civil honor ceremonies like Padma Awards. It will be necessary to play this song during the President's visit to any program. This rule will also apply before and after the arrival, departure and speech of the President or Governors. This will also be followed on the occasion of hoisting the tricolor. The Home Ministry has clarified that when this song is played or sung, all the people present will stand in meditation posture.
What are the complete 6 verses of Vande Mataram?
Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote 'Vande Mataram' in 1875, which was published in his novel 'Anandamath' in 1882. It has a total of six verses. The opening verses portray India as a mother. Later verses refer to Hindu goddesses such as Durga, Kamala (Lakshmi) and Saraswati. At the Faizpur session in 1937, the Congress adopted only the first two verses because some Muslim members had objections to the mention of goddesses. Now the government has decided that only six verses will be played, which will be approximately 3 minutes 10 seconds long.
