Police does not take any action

Local villagers allege that information about illegal sand harvesting was given to the police and administration several times, but till now no concrete action has been taken. Due to this, the sand mafia is fearlessly filling the river bed.

Villagers say that administrative action is limited to papers and statements only. Due to continuous illegal logging, the flow of the river has started changing. Villagers fear that the Suhagi bridge may be damaged due to severe erosion in the upcoming rainy season and a major accident may also occur.

Question on silence of administration

Despite this, there is deep anger among the people due to the inaction of the responsible departments. Anger is increasing among the villagers who are angry with the silence of the administration. People say that if action is not taken soon, they will be forced to protest.

The villagers have demanded a high-level investigation from the district administration and the mining department to immediately stop illegal sand harvesting and take strict action against the sand mafia as well as the officers and personnel who protect them.

Strict action against people involved in illegal mining

In this regard, in-charge DSP Naveen Kumar said that information about illegal sand harvesting has been received near Suhagi bridge. The matter is being investigated. Clear instructions have been given to the concerned police station to identify those involved in illegal mining and take strict action. Illegal sand harvesting will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Circle Officer Rakesh Kumar said that information about the entire matter has been given to the Mining Department and soon action will be taken by conducting a joint raid.
