Officers checking the notice in Nautanwa Tehsil Auditorium. Awakening
Jagran correspondent, Nautanwa. The concern over thousands of voters left out from the mapping of voter list after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has increased. After receiving the notice, people are forced to make rounds of tehsil, block and municipality to collect documents to prove their franchise. Long queues are forming in offices for copies of birth, residence, caste certificates and family register.
Notices have been issued to a total of 42,084 voters in Nautanwa assembly constituency. These voters have to present the documents related to their voting rights before the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer.
Name can remain safe in the voter list on presentation of any one valid document out of 13 types of documents prescribed by the Commission. The Election Commission has mandated mapping from the voter list of 2003 to ensure the accuracy of the voter list.
At the same time, a large number of voters are coming forward who do not have any solid certificate. This has increased the pressure on administrative offices and voters are troubled due to the complex application process.
