Hosting of T20 World Cup 2026
T20 World Cup 2026 is being hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Earlier, the previous edition was also played in the host West Indies and USA. That means this time too two countries are hosting the tournament together. However, this time the venue of the semi-final and final of the World Cup is not confirmed.
Actually, if Pakistan reaches the semi-finals, one semi-final will be played in Colombo. If the Pakistan team is eliminated before the semi-finals, then this match will be played in Kolkata, while one semi-final is to be held in Mumbai. Similar situation is regarding the final, if Pakistan reaches the final then the match will be played in Colombo otherwise the match will be played in Ahmedabad.
No change in cricket rules
There has been no change in the rules of cricket regarding the World Cup. The T20 format, the way it was being played earlier, will continue in this tournament as well. The ICC has already imposed the stop-clock rule, which will also be applicable in the World Cup. Under this, the next over will have to be started within one minute of the completion of the over. Apart from this, the old rules regarding DRS and rain affected matches will remain applicable.
The Scotland team was out of the qualifier match due to run rate. However, Bangladesh refused to play in India and then Scotland entered the World Cup. This will be the first time in the history of T20 World Cup that Bangladesh team is not participating. Before this he had played in all 9 editions.
