India will be eyeing victory.
Bulawayo, PTI. Five-time champions India will try to avenge their humiliating defeat in the Asia Cup final against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super Six match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup on Sunday. India had lost to Pakistan by 191 runs in the Under-19 Asia Cup final held in Dubai on December 21 last year, while on December 14, it had won the group match of the same tournament by 90 runs against the arch-rivals.
On Sunday, the Indian team captained by Ayush Mhatre will be desperate to avenge that defeat. The Indian Under-19 team avoided shaking hands after the Asia Cup final match with Pakistan. India had done the same during the group stage matches of that tournament. The policy of not shaking hands may continue in this contest. India has performed brilliantly so far in the tournament.
The team started their campaign with a six-wicket win over America and then defeated Bangladesh and New Zealand in the group stage. India continued its winning streak by defeating hosts Zimbabwe by 204 runs on January 27 in its first Super Six match. India's next match will be against a strong opponent in the form of Pakistan and a big defeat in the Asia Cup final could trouble the Mhatre-led side.
Wicketkeeper batsmen Abhigyan Kundu (183 runs) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (166 runs) are consistently performing well. Both have scored two half-centuries each but they would like to convert them into three figures. India also has hopes from Vihaan Malhotra (151 runs). The left-handed batsman had scored an unbeaten 109 against Zimbabwe in the last match and would like to continue his good form.
Among the bowlers, Henil Patel and Uddhav Mohan have performed effectively for India. Captain Mhatre also took three wickets with his off-break bowling against Zimbabwe while right-arm fast bowler RS Amrish was also included in the list of wicket-takers.
