The court of Special Judge (POCSO) Archana Sagar has convicted the ward boy of Doon Hospital, accused of molesting a patient, and sentenced him to five years imprisonment. A fine of Rs 5,000 has also been imposed on the culprit. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment for one month.
According to Special Public Prosecutor Alpana Thapa on behalf of the state government, a woman lodged a complaint in the city police station that she had gone to Doon Hospital on December 20, 2022 to get her 17-year-old daughter treated for a seizure. The doctors admitted the daughter to the hospital.
The complainant told that her aunt was sleeping with her daughter at around 11 pm. During this time, the hospital's ward boy Deepak came to his daughter and called her on the pretext of giving her medicine for headache and took her inside to another cabin.
There the accused started molesting her. This entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera of the hospital. In this case, the police registered a case against the accused Deepak Kumar, native of Chandpur, Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh), current resident of Garhi Cantt., on 22 December 2022 and arrested him on 17 July 2023.
In the statement given before the court, the victim said that his health was unwell. Due to which his mother admitted him to Doon Hospital. He had a headache, so he asked the ward boy Deepak posted there to give him medicine.
The accused took her inside the cabin, where he started molesting her. When she raised an alarm, the accused threw her on the ground. There the policemen rescued him. In this case, the prosecution presented six witnesses in the court.
