Vishnu Nadhodi, Jagran, Fatehabad. The Public Health Engineering Department has prepared a comprehensive action plan to eliminate the problem of drinking water in the rural areas of Fatehabad Assembly and to modernize the water supply system.

A total budget of Rs 37 crore 93 lakh 18 thousand has been estimated for the improvement of water supply schemes in various villages of the district, construction of new boosting stations and strengthening the pipeline network, of which tenders worth Rs 15 crore 79 lakh 82 thousand have also been issued.

The implementation of these projects will not only prevent wastage of water but will also ensure smooth supply of pure drinking water to the villagers. With the completion of these works, the standard of living in the rural areas of Fatehabad will improve and the risk of infectious diseases will reduce. The department aims to complete these works within the stipulated time limit so that the villagers can get relief during the summer season.

Will get relief from the problem of contaminated water

According to the departmental report, people are worried due to contaminated water in villages like Jandwala Bagad and Mohammadpur Rohi. A budget of Rs 4 crore 56 lakh 51 thousand is proposed for Jandwala Bagh, under which the tanks will be raised higher and new machinery will be installed. This will help the villagers to get rid of contaminated water.

Similarly, renovation work will be done in Mohammadpur Rohi at a cost of Rs 9 crore 40 lakh 51 thousand, due to which the water storage capacity will increase from 16 days to 24 days.

The system will improve in these villages also

Kukdanwali and surrounding areas: The biggest budget has been allocated for Kukdanwali project of Rs 9 crore 99 lakh 96 thousand. This will benefit four villages including Gillakheda, Bodiwali, Sarwarpur and Kukdanwali. Canal water will be supplied through DI pipe by building a new pumping station in Gillakheda.

Special focus on SC settlements

As per the priority of the Public Health Department, special emphasis has been laid on improving water supply in the SC settlements of Sirdhan and Mohammadpur Rohi. In Sirdhan's MGGBY Colony, work will be done to lay a new pipeline and raise the boundary wall at a cost of Rs 1 crore 23 lakh so that the security arrangements can be strengthened.

Under the projects, attention is being given not only to pipelines but also to safety and technology. The remaining boundary walls of water houses in villages like Dayyad, Matana and Sirdhan will be constructed. Old and dilapidated pipelines will be replaced with DI pipes, which will eliminate the problem of leakage. Most of the projects aim to increase the storage capacity during canal closure from 16 days to 32 days, so that there is no shortage of water during times of crisis.

Demands were placed before CM

These demands related to the Public Health Department were put forward by former MLA Dudaram in the program of Chief Minister Nayab Saini organized at the Gaushala of village Baropal a few months ago. After this, the officials of the Public Health Department had prepared estimates of these works and sent them to the headquarters. After getting permission from there, tenders have now been issued.
