Water tank has not been cleaned for more than 25 years
Correspondent, Jamudiya: The water tank supplying water to the ECL residences of Kunustodia Colliery under ECL's Kunustodia area has not been cleaned for years. Through this water tank built in the year 1983, water is supplied to about 600 residences in the entire colliery area. Aftab Ansari, a bank employee living near the water tank, said that he has been living in Kunustodia Colliery area for the last 25 years, till date he has never seen the water tank being cleaned. It has been more than forty years since the water tank was constructed. Keeping in mind the health of ECL personnel, the tank should be cleaned regularly. Water is used by people for all types of household works including bathing, washing clothes, utensils etc. In such a situation, not having clean water can make people vulnerable to serious diseases. Mohammad Okesh, pump operator of ECL Kunustodia Colliery, said that it has been years since the tank supplying water to the people of the colliery area was cleaned. There is a rule to sprinkle bleaching powder, chlorine, salt etc. in the water tank, but this is also not followed. When the coal mine water comes into the tank, it is supplied directly from the tank to the ECL residences through a pipeline. Water is supplied to hundreds of ECL residences of ECL Kunustodia Colliery from a water tank of two thousand liter capacity.
