Jagran correspondent, Meerut. Rajya Sabha member Dr. Laxmikant Bajpai has demanded the establishment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Meerut. He said in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that if Meerut gets AIIMS, will the burden on Delhi AIIMS be reduced?
People from entire western Uttar Pradesh will come to Meerut for treatment instead of going to Delhi. He also told the Chairman about the lack of medical facilities. When AIIMS was not available, he demanded to establish a 30-bed AIIMS satellite center and cancer institute on the lines of Gurugram.
He said that Meerut division has a population of about 1.5 crore and Saharpur has a population of about 90 lakh. Said that if AIIMS is built in Meerut, then the residents of these divisions will come to Meerut instead of going to Delhi. Said that there is a shortage of doctors in Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, Meerut.
There are no modern facilities. There are no machines. Due to which the patients here have to go to Delhi AIIMS.Dr. 45 members of Rajya Sabha have also expressed their consent to this proposal of Laxmikant Bajpayee and have signed it and given it to the Chairman.
