Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. The Election Commission, which is engaged in making the voter list pure through Special Intensive Revision (SIR), has directed the Chief Electoral Officers of 12 states and union territories included in the SIR, that before the release of the draft list, they should share the list of dead, transferred, absent and duplicate voters found at each booth with the booth level agents associated with political parties.

Also, the way the list of such voters was uploaded on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer and District Election Officer in Bihar, all the states should make it available in the same manner. Along with this, the Election Commission has shown seriousness on the demand of Uttar Pradesh to extend the period of submission of counting form during SIR and has indicated that it can be extended by one week. The Commission will take a decision on this on Thursday.

According to senior officials associated with the Commission, except those states which have elections next year, they may have a little more time in all other states. As of now, except Kerala, the date for filling and submitting the enumeration form in all the states is till 11th December only.

The Election Commission has asked the CEOs and DEOs of all the 12 states and union territories included in the second phase of SIR to talk to the district presidents of political parties and tell them to instruct their booth level agents that if any name at any booth is wrongly included among the voters found dead, transferred or absent, then they should immediately inform the booth level agent so that it can be rectified in time.

Along with this, the Commission has also directed the CEO of West Bengal to create a new polling center keeping in mind the convenience of the voters living in high-rise buildings and societies. Also ensure that there are not more than 1200 voters at any polling station. The Commission has asked the CEO of West Bengal to provide the list of such polling stations by December 31.
