Jagran Team, Hisar. The effect of snowfall on the mountains is now clearly visible in the plains of Haryana. There was dense fog in 16 districts of the state on Thursday morning and evening, while due to the cold wave, a sharp drop in the minimum temperature was recorded.
The minimum temperature was recorded below 10 degrees in all the districts of the state. At the Lahli Stadium in Rohtak, the Ranji Elite match between Haryana and Bengal started three hours late at 12:30 instead of 9:30 in the morning. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of western disturbance becoming active from the night of January 31, due to which there may be rainfall in many parts of the state between February 1 and February 3. Meteorologists have also issued an alert of hailstorm on February 1.
South Haryana: Minimum temperature dropped to 2.5 degrees in Narnaul-Bhiwani. The effect of cold wave was more visible in South Haryana. The minimum temperature in Narnaul was recorded at 2.0 degrees Celsius, while the mercury dropped to 2.5 degrees in Bhiwani.
Mahendragarh, Rewari and surrounding districts also experienced severe cold.
North Haryana: Mercury in Hisar @ 5.60, relief from sunshine throughout the day. The minimum temperature in Ambala, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Karnal of North Haryana was recorded slightly higher than the southern districts. The minimum temperature in Hisar was 5.6 degrees. There was some relief from the cold wave due to sunshine throughout the day.
Alert fog: Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani, Yamunanagar, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Mewat, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Sirsa, Fatehabad and Charkhi Dadri. Cold wave: Mahendragarh, Rewari, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri.
Highway: Visibility remained zero in the morning, fog also spread early in the evening. From around 6 am on Thursday, visibility on all the highways and KMP Expressway of the state was close to zero. The fog cleared only after 10 am. There was fog in the outer areas of the cities at around seven in the evening.
