Jagran correspondent, Dhanbad. On the lines of premium trains like Rajdhani and Duronto, now passengers of Mail Express will also be able to pre-book food and drinks during the journey.
This facility will be available to passengers holding confirmed, RAC and partially confirmed tickets who have booked e-tickets. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation-IRCTC has launched e-pantry service to make food services accessible.
In the first phase, it has been started in 25 pairs of trains including Howrah-New Delhi Purva Express passing through Dhanbad, Sealdah-Ajmer and Puri-Anandvihar Purushottam Express passing through Gomoh and Bokaro. This facility will be available only in those trains in which pantry cars are available.
Pre-book the food with e-ticket, the plate will be delivered to the seat.
Passengers booking e-tickets can pre-book their favorite meals from their mobile. The food plate will be delivered to their seat at the respective station. Problems like disputes with vendors regarding money, complaints about non-payment of bills will automatically go away with this.
Meal verification code will have to be told to the vendor
At the time of e-ticket booking, passengers will be able to select food by going to the e-pantry meal option. After booking the meal, a confirmation message will be sent to the passenger's mobile. It will also have Meal Verification Code-MVC.
The vendor will bring the meal to the passenger's seat, where he or she will have to provide the meal verification code. From the code it will be known that only the correct passenger who booked the meal has received it. It will also be monitored through digital dashboard.
Refund will be given in case of non-delivery, information will be received through SMS
If for some reason the food is not delivered to the passenger even after booking, he will get a refund. Detailed information about booking cancellation and refund will be given through SMS, WhatsApp or e-mail.

Howrah-New Delhi Purva Express, Sealdah-Ajmer Express, Puri-Anandvihar Purushottam Express, Hatia-Anandvihar via Gomo Swarnjayanti Express, Howrah-New Delhi via Patna Purva Express, Tata-Bengaluru Express and others.
