Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. After receiving complaints of traffic violations in Karol Bagh, the traffic police conducted a zero-tolerance traffic enforcement drive in Bikaner Chowk and Karol Bagh from January 16 to February 1, with the aim of ensuring smooth flow of traffic, improving road safety, and reducing the frequent jams in Karol Bagh Market area.
The drive was aimed at curbing no-entry violations, wrong parking, and other traffic violations that adversely affect vehicular movement and pedestrian safety at this densely populated commercial junction. During this period, enforcement teams were deployed full time and were given clear instructions to adopt a strict zero-tolerance approach against violations.
During this special drive, a total of 4,233 challans were issued, mainly for no entry violations and wrong parking. In the enforcement action, 968 vehicles were towed for violations, especially illegal parking. The zero-tolerance drive has resulted in a significant improvement in traffic discipline and vehicular movement in and around Karol Bagh Market area.
The drive was appreciated by all the road users, especially the traders of Karol Bagh and was successful in achieving its objective of behavioral change among the road users. As a result, the traffic situation at the Chowk improved. The Traffic Police is committed to consistent enforcement and public cooperation to ensure safe, orderly and jam-free roads.
Police have requested people to strictly follow traffic rules, failing which strict action will be taken. Similar focused enforcement drives will be conducted at other jam-packed spots in the city.
