11 Teams Of CAQM Inspected 54 Places Of NDMC In Delhi, People Found Burning Garbage At 18 Places.

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has found flagrant violations of GREP rules in its inspection conducted in three circles of NDMC. In the inspection conducted on January 5, 11 teams of CAQM inspected 54 places.

In this, inspection was conducted at Chanakyapuri, Sarojini Nagar, Connaught Place, Janpath, Parliament Street, Ashok Road, Tilak Marg, Khan Market, Lodhi Estate, Pragati Maidan, India Gate and surrounding roads. According to CAQM, it found people burning garbage and biomass at 18 places while dumping of debris was reported at 35 places.

During the inspection, the team collected data and photographs of each site. Garbage was also found in the open at many places where there is a possibility of fire. Although many areas and places were found generally clean and free from violations, the incidents observed indicate the need for increased surveillance, especially during evening and night hours.

Observations show that even in well-maintained municipal areas, sporadic dumping of waste and local scale burning of biomass can have adverse effects on air quality and require continuous preventive action.
