Sports Desk, New Delhi. 14 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has registered his name in the pages of history on Wednesday. Vaibhav broke Sanju Samson's record of hitting most sixes for India in the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

Bihar's Vaibhav played a stormy inning of 68 runs against Afghanistan in the semi-finals of the Under-19 World Cup. The left-handed batsman scored 68 runs in just 33 balls, which included 9 fours and four sixes.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has hit a total of 15 sixes in the Under-19 World Cup. This is more than the 12 sixes of Sanju Samson and Gaurav Dhiman. Samson hit 12 sixes in six matches for India in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup. Whereas, Dhiman had hit 12 sixes in 13 matches in two editions (2004 and 2006).

Vaibhav Suryavanshi also broke Sanju Samson's record in terms of hitting the most sixes for India in an edition of the Under-19 World Cup. Suryavanshi has hit 15 sixes so far in the current Under-19 World Cup. Whereas Samson had hit 12 sixes. Ayush Mhatre is at third place with 12 sixes. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Raj Angad Bawa are at third and fourth position respectively with 10 sixes each.

In whose name is the world record registered?

Let us tell you that the world record for hitting the most sixes in a single edition of the Under-19 World Cup is held in the name of South Africa's Dewald Brevis. Brewis hit 18 sixes in six matches in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup. Vaibhav has a golden opportunity to break this record in the final.

India reached the final

Let us tell you that India has entered the final of the Under-19 World Cup 2026. The Indian team led by Ayush Mhatre defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets with 53 balls to spare in the semi-finals. Aaron George (115) was the hero of India's victory.

In the match played in Harare, Afghanistan batted first and scored 310 runs losing 4 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, India achieved the target by losing three wickets in 41.1 overs. The Indian team will face England in the final.
