Jagran correspondent, Sahibabad. People living in 172 houses built illegally on park land in Rajendranagar industrial area have got relief. These people will be rehabilitated. GDA has asked for four weeks' time for this during the hearing in NGT. The next hearing in the case will be on May 25.
Environmentalist Sushil Raghav had filed a petition in NGT last year regarding the encroachment of park land in Rajendranagar industrial area. The petitioner says that more than 19 bighas of land was reserved for the park. In response, GDA had said that apart from the road, 172 houses have also been constructed illegally.
On the basis of GDA map, NGT had ordered to vacate the possession, after which the people living in the houses had gone to the High Court. According to Sushil Raghav, during the hearing held in NGT on Tuesday, GDA said that the High Court has given relief to the people living in the houses.
Besides, a high-level committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate so that the people living in the houses can be rehabilitated. GDA asked for four weeks' time for the status report. Giving time to GDA, NGT has ordered the next hearing on May 25.
The factory owner claimed the park land as his own.
During the hearing on the petition for possession of parks in Sahibabad Industrial Area Site 4, a factory owner claimed the park land as his own. Petitioner Sushil Raghav said that there were about 12 parks here, out of which only one is left.
Some parts of this have also been captured. During the hearing of the petition filed in NGT, UPSIDA had accepted the occupation of the parks while presenting the map.
In the hearing held last week, a factory owner claimed some part of the park land as his own. He said that UPSIDA has given wrong information. NGT has asked him for land documents and has fixed May 15 as the next date of hearing.
