Mohammad Saqib, New Delhi. A case of major fraud with a retired Army Major in the name of getting a government job has come to light. The fraudsters defrauded his daughter and niece of Rs 23 lakh by luring them with the promise of getting them jobs in the Income Tax Department and Kolkata Railways.
It is alleged that the swindlers also gave fake appointment letters, interviews and fake medical documents, which had the seal of the Government of India. Later on investigation all the documents were found to be fake. On the complaint of the victim, Connaught Place police station has registered a case and started investigation.
According to the information, the victim has been identified as B. Ramadoss, who has retired from the Army with the rank of Major and currently lives in Kellam district of Kerala. In the complaint given to the police, he told that on June 5 this year, he had his first meeting with two youths named Sibin Raj and Manish Pandey in Rajiv Chowk area of Delhi. Describing themselves as having influential contacts, both of them claimed that they could get government jobs in the Income Tax Department and Kolkata Railways.
The accused assured the victim that his daughter would soon get appointment in the Income Tax Department and his niece in Kolkata Railways. In return, both of them demanded a total of Rs 23 lakh. To secure the future of their daughters, the victim and his brother agreed to the talks of the accused and transferred the entire amount in different installments to their bank accounts.
According to the victim, on June 20, the accused again called him at Rajiv Chowk metro station. During this time his daughter and niece were also with him. The accused claimed that the interview and medical procedure would take place in the ITO office of the Income Tax Department. After this, they handed over fake appointment letters to both the girls, which had the seal of the Government of India and other official details printed on them. Some other documents related to medical and training were also given.
The accused assured the victim's family that they would soon receive an official call and the appointment process would be completed. But despite the passage of time, when no call came, the victim got the documents verified. Investigation revealed that the appointment letter and all the documents were completely fake. When the victim tried to contact the accused, they stopped picking up the phone and later even blocked the numbers.
After realizing that he was cheated, the victim lodged a written complaint at Connaught Place police station on December 8. He alleged that Sibin Raj and Manish Pandey have so far victimized more than 40 students in the name of providing them government jobs. Police have registered a case under sections related to fraud and forgery.
