The Municipal Corporation administration is keeping a close watch on the defaulters who do not deposit the holding tax of the Municipal Corporation in the urban areas. Recently, Divisional Commissioner Avnish Kumar Singh emphasized on recovery of holding in the review meeting. Along with sending notices to those who have not deposited taxes, a target has been set to identify those houses in the city whose holding has not been registered.
In this series, Municipal Commissioner Kislay Kushwaha has directed the outsourcing agency Lazikuf to send notices to all the defaulters. 81 thousand 678 holdings are registered in the municipal corporation area. Whereas in this financial year so far the agency has been able to collect holding tax from only 44 thousand 83 houses. Out of which 37 thousand 595 buildings have not yet deposited the holding tax. As a result, the agency has recovered Rs 20 crore against the target of Rs 50 crore.
Taking strict action regarding tax collection, they have started sending notices. If the outstanding is more than one year then it will have to be deposited. Since November till now, notices have been sent to seven thousand building owners. While 200 notices are ready. In such a situation, the agency has set a target of sending notices to 37 thousand houses within 15 days. Tax collectors will identify such houses and give notice. Where there are no home owners, notices will be pasted on the doors of their homes. Whereas in wards one to 51, the holding of their buildings has not been established.
After getting the mutation done from the circle, the name of the holding has not been transferred from the corporation. Its survey has also started. Tax collectors are conducting surveys in every ward. A list of around 150 buildings has been prepared in four days. The surveyor list at ward level will be made available to the corporation. After which notice will be issued to the concerned people by the mutation branch of the corporation. Those who do not have any documents related to their holding. The name transfer has not even been done by the corporation. It is mandatory for them to get mutation done from the corporation.
Agency manager Amit Srivastava said that exemption in holding tax is being given till March. On the orders of the corporation administration, a five-day camp was organized in all the wards. In which Rs 45 lakh was recovered. After the first notice, the second notice at the corporation level was issued to 70 people. If the tax is not deposited after the second and final notice, the movable property can be confiscated and sold. The corporation has also provided online facility for depositing tax.
