Jagran Correspondent, Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while participating in the 27th Foundation Day celebrations of Dehradun Municipal Corporation on Tuesday, laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth more than Rs 46 crore in Dehradun metropolis.

During this, Chief Minister Dhami said that in 27 years, Dehradun Municipal Corporation has played an important role in developing Dehradun as a clean, safe and well-organized city by achieving many achievements in the field of expansion of civic facilities and modern urban management.

He said that the occasion of Dehradun Municipal Corporation Foundation Day is to celebrate those achievements as well as to realize the dreams of development on the ground, keeping in mind the challenges of the times to come.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is setting new records of development and prosperity. Today, a new direction is being given to the development of urban areas through many projects in the country.

Through the Swachh Bharat Mission, a new culture of cleanliness has developed in lakhs of cities, towns and cities of the country. Water supply, sewerage and green spaces have been developed in urban areas through AMRUT Yojana. Similarly, Smart City Mission has emerged as a model city development.

The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the State Government is working with full commitment to make Dehradun a modern and developed city. On the one hand, in Dehradun, under the Swachh Bharat Mission, solid waste management and sanitation system is being strengthened in the city.

Efforts are being made to provide better facilities to the citizens through public welfare schemes like Smart City Mission, Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Amrit Mission, Open Defecation Free Campaign and Legacy Waste Management.

The Chief Minister said that the government is working on various projects worth more than Rs 1400 crore to establish Dehradun as a modern city.

A modern mechanized transfer station has been constructed in the city for waste management, while an Integrated Command and Control Center has also been established for real-time monitoring of garbage vehicles. To create a green and healthy Dehradun, 35 parks have also been constructed at various places in the city.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is constructing the city's biggest park based on yoga theme in Kedarpuram.

At the same time, more than 50 thousand square meters of green area is also being developed in the city through special memorial parks in the memory of the brave martyrs. Along with this, ‘Renew Rispana’ campaign is also being conducted to revive the rivers of the city.

He said that to promote environmental protection, 30 electric buses are being operated in the city, while charging stations have also been constructed at 11 places for private electric vehicles.

Due to the efforts of the state government, Dehradun has secured 19th position in the country in the clean air survey conducted by the central government under the National Clean Air Programme. Also, in the national cleanliness ranking of top clean cities, Dehradun has made a significant improvement and achieved 62nd position this year.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the state government is also trying for a permanent solution to the problem of traffic and parking in Dehradun.

For this, underground parking is being constructed at various places, while plans are also being made to construct elevated roads over Rispana and Bindal rivers to reduce traffic pressure. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also rewarded the Municipal Corporation employees who did excellent work.

During this, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal said that efforts are being made to develop Dehradun as a modern and environment-friendly city. He also presented details of the development works being carried out by the Municipal Corporation.

Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, MLA Khajan Das, Vinod Chamoli, Umesh Sharma Kau, Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal and officials and councilors were present in the program.
