Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. To make transportation easier by road, the Yogi government is expanding highways and expressways. Bareilly-Sitarganj Highway is already being constructed from Bareilly to Uttarakhand. Now the government has started the process of developing Bareilly-Lalitpur corridor, this will make transportation from North to South easier. Bareilly will be connected to both Ganga and Yamuna expressways. This will increase the speed of vehicles from north to south and from east to west.
Bareilly-Lalitpur corridor will pass through Kasganj, Agra, Gwalior, Jhansi. What will be its form in Bareilly division, the officials of Public Works Department and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) do not have any information yet. It is believed that the proposal for this corridor has been prepared from the headquarters level itself with the help of Google Map.
Expressway ready from Meerut to Prayagraj
The work of converting Bareilly-Mathura National Highway into six lane is already going on. As of now, the regional officials are not in a position to tell where it will connect with the Bareilly-Lalitpur corridor, but in Badaun it will connect with the Ganga Expressway which has been completed from Meerut to Prayagraj and Yamuna Expressway in Mathura.
Bareilly-Sitarganj highway is already being built in the northern region up to Uttarakhand, the new corridor will provide direct connectivity from north to south. Bareilly is already connected to Lucknow-Delhi National Highway. The process of construction of Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway has also started, this will ease the road traffic from east to west.
Preparation to get the proposal passed by the cabinet
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given consent to implement the proposed North-South Corridor project. Now preparations are being made to pass it in the cabinet. However, the local Public Works Department and NHAI officials do not have detailed information about this project.
Shashank Bhargava, Executive Engineer, NH Section, Public Works Department, says that no proposal has been made from here regarding Bareilly-Lalitpur Corridor. No information has yet been sought from the headquarters in this regard. PWD Chief Engineer Ajay Kumar says that information about the project has been received only through the newspaper, no order or instructions have been received from the department.
There is no position to tell anything right now. NHAI project officer Navratna says that the process of Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway is going on, but there is no information regarding Bareilly-Lalitpur corridor. No guidelines have been received from the headquarters in this regard.
