JNN, Korba. Within the last three days, four students in the district have committed suicide by hanging themselves. The child's parents are already in grief due to this incident. Also the people of the area are shocked.
The students who sacrificed their lives include two students of class 12th, one student each of class 10th and class 9th. All the incidents have come to light during the examination period, due to which serious questions have been raised regarding studies and mental pressure on children.
The first incident took place in Dhamnaguri Mohar village of Urga police station area. Where on Monday night, 16-year-old class nine student Geeta Mahant hanged herself from a tree on the bank of the pond. It was told that she was mentally disturbed after the death of her mother.
Second incident: On Tuesday, in Indiranagar Durpa of City Kotwali police station area, class 10th student Anjali Kenwat, 17, committed suicide by hanging herself at home. She was preparing for board exams and was alone at home at that time.
In the same sequence, Ujjwal Dadsena alias Dhruv, 17, a 12th class student in Rampur ITI Basti of Civil Line police station area, committed suicide by hanging himself from the fan in the room of his house. He was a distinguished school student and class leader (monitor). The incident came to light when teachers reached home after not reaching school on the exam day. A suicide note written in English has also been recovered from the spot.
Dipanshu Kaushik, a student living in CSEB Colony under Civil Line police station area, committed suicide while living alone at home. He was a student of class 12th and was preparing for the examination. There is an atmosphere of mourning and concern in the district due to four consecutive incidents.
Mental health experts say that the pressure of studies, examinations, family circumstances and expectations during adolescence breaks children from within. In such a situation, timely communication and emotional support is very important.
