Raids in Patna and Sheikhpura, 26 cyber thugs arrested

State Bureau, Patna. Special teams of Cyber ​​​​Crime and Security Unit (CCSU) of Bihar Police have raided half a dozen locations in Patna and Sheikhpura and arrested 26 cyber thugs. Of these, 21 cyber thugs have been arrested in Patna while five in Sheikhpura. An FIR has also been registered in the cyber police station in this matter.

According to the police headquarters, the team of CCSU and Patna Cyber ​​Police Station, on a secret information, raided three locations in Danapur and Rupaspur police station area on February 2. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were making common people victims of fraud through fake digital service centers and fake call centres.

The gang has defrauded 500 people of about Rs 1 crore in about four years. For this, a fake website was created in the year 2022 itself. After this, fraud was being run in the name of online computer training and digital service center by setting up a call center by taking a rented house in Patna and other places.

For this, the accused used to prepare mobile numbers and database of common citizens with the help of Google and other sources. After this, people were trapped through male and female employees by luring them with the promises of mobile recharge, rail-airplane ticket booking, Aadhaar update and other digital services.

Money was taken from them online through QR code but no service was provided and the number was also blocked. 30 keypad mobiles, 23 smartphones, 19 laptops, 27 hard disks, 12 ATM cards, Wi-Fi routers etc. have been recovered from them.

Cheating was being done through fake loan app in Sheikhpura:

In Sheikhpura also, a joint team of Cyber ​​Police Station and STF along with CCSU conducted simultaneous raids at three places on February 3, in which five accused were arrested. Preliminary investigation revealed that people were being cheated by the accused through fake loan apps.

Cyber ​​​​thugs used to contact people through mobile calls, messages and other digital means and lure them to get instant loans, in return for which processing fees, KYC charges and other fees were demanded from the victims online. After this, the mobile numbers of the victims were blocked without giving any loan.
