Jagran correspondent, Patna City. In connection with the bombing incident that took place late on Tuesday night at CV Raman Hostel of Patna University, Sultanganj police station conducted a search operation in various hostels on Wednesday and recovered 40 small needle bombs from Hathua hostel.

Sultanganj police station recovered bomb making material and arrested seven students from room number 11. City Superintendent of Police Madhya Diksha said that four-five people have been named in the case number 52/2026 registered in Pirbahor police station. Interrogation of the arrested is continuing. The age of all the arrested students is 19 to 20 years.

Late on Tuesday night, a student of CV Raman hostel had gone to Krishna Ghat with his female friend to drink coffee in a coffee house. There was a fight between two groups of students at Krishna Ghat in Pirbahore police station area due to teasing by third year students of Jackson Hostel. The police calmed down the matter by explaining.

Later, students of Jackson hostel spread panic by bursting four twine bombs on the boundary wall of CV Raman hostel late in the night. The angry students created chaos in the area by firing. Police are denying the incident of aerial firing.

After the hostel bombing incident, police from various police stations under the leadership of SSP Karthikeya Sharma investigated the matter. All the students had fled before the police arrived.

In this regard, Chhatrapati Kumar, a student of CV Raman hostel and an eyewitness to the incident, also talked about bursting of half a dozen bombs by the students of Jackson hostel and firing by the students. According to the students, two students were also injured in the fight.

Patna City Additional Superintendent of Police Raj Kishore Singh said on Wednesday that seven students have been arrested in the case and 40 twine bombs and bomb making material have been recovered from Hathua hostel.

Seven students were making bombs in room number 11 of Hathua hostel.

Sultanganj police station incharge Kumar Roshan has stated in the FIR that he along with half a dozen sub-inspectors reached Law College Ghat at 10:35 pm on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, information was received that a bomb had been blasted at CV Raman hostel by the students of Jackson hostel.

After giving information about the matter to the senior officials, when the police reached room number 11 located on the ground floor of Hathua hostel at around 12:20 pm on Wednesday, they saw that seven students were sitting in that room in a suspicious mood and making something.

In the middle, a match box and objectionable items used for making bombs were seen. The seven students who ran away from the room after seeing the police were arrested by the police.

Among the arrested youth, three were from Buxar, one each from Supaul, Jehanabad, Nalanda and Arwal.

The arrested students include 19-year-old Saurabh Kumar, resident of Lakshminiya, Kisanpur police station area of Supaul district, 20-year-old Shubham Kumar, resident of Mandilchak, Parasbigha police station of Jehanabad district, 20-year-old Sumit Kumar, 20-year-old resident of Dumrao police station area of Buxar district, 19-year-old Mohit Kumar of Itari police station area of Buxar, 19-year-old Deepak Kumar, resident of Itari police station area of Buxar district. 19 year old Pranav Kumar Singh, resident of Basudhar, 19 year old Vivek Kumar, resident of Karwa Balram of Karpi police station area of Arwal district. All the students were currently living in Hathua hostel only.

40 twine bombs and other bomb making materials seized during search

During the search, police seized 40 pieces of red colored small twine bomb from room number 11 of Hathua hostel, 174 grams of gunpowder in a plastic matchstick, 184 grams of matchstick without gunpowder in a plastic bag, 68 grams of small iron nail in a plastic box, 125 pieces of matchsticks, 118 pieces of empty matchbox, 500 ml plastic bottle. About 400 ml petrol, 50 pieces of roll caps, fifty grams of twine wrapped in a three feet long stick and 120 grams of twine were recovered.

The experiment was to be conducted to establish supremacy in the area during the immersion of Saraswati Puja.

When interrogated about the recovered needle bombs and objectionable items used in bomb making, the youth told that they were making bombs by collecting these items. They used it during the immersion of Saraswati Puja to establish their dominance in the area.

Keeping objectionable material for bomb making and making bombs is a cognizable offence. The seven students of Hathua hostel of Patna University were arrested by the police along with the seized items under Section 4(A)(B)/5 Explosive Substances Act and brought to the police station.
