Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. A massive fire broke out in an illegal laptop battery repairing warehouse in Nehru Vihar area of ​​Mustafabad on Friday morning. A young man sleeping in the warehouse was burnt to death. Meanwhile, his brother suffered minor burns. Due to the fire, a bike and scooter parked in the warehouse were also burnt to ashes. Five fire tenders brought the fire under control with three hours of effort.

The deceased has been identified as Junaid (20). Injured Sameer (23) was discharged from GTB hospital after first aid. Dayalpur police station has registered a case under several sections including the section of causing death by negligence. It is suspected that the fire in the warehouse occurred due to the battery exploding due to overcharging. FSL has collected evidence from the spot.

Junaid lived with his family in a four-storey building in Nehru Vihar Gali No. 18/8. The family consists of parents and three brothers. His father Sabir has built a laptop battery repairing warehouse on the ground floor of the house. The family lives on the first floor. The family told that Junaid had repaired the battery on Thursday night. He slept in the warehouse itself. The rest of the family members were sleeping on the first floor.

Police said that the police and fire brigade had received information about the fire at 6:25. The family told that as soon as the fire broke out in the warehouse, smoke started going to the upper floor. The family members had reached out of the house through the stairs. Junaid was trapped in the warehouse itself. Sameer was burnt by the smoke of the fire.

Fire brigade started controlling the fire. The fire brigade had a lot of difficulty in extinguishing the fire as the fire broke out in the battery and two vehicles. After three hours of hard work the fire brigade brought the fire under control. When a search operation was conducted, Junaid's burnt body was found on the ground floor.
