Abhijit Majumdar: Odisha's Famous Singer Abhijit Majumdar Passes Away, Breathed His Last At The Age Of 54.

Digital Desk, Bhubaneswar. Famous Odia musician and singer Abhijit Majumdar died during treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Sunday, hospital officials said. He was 54 years old. Abhijit Majumdar was admitted to the hospital on September 4 last year due to hypertension, hypothyroidism and chronic liver disease.

After prolonged treatment in the ICU, he was shifted to the medicine ward on November 10 to continue his care, AIIMS said in a statement. It said he developed a new fever (infection) on January 23, which was treated as per standard protocol, but he did not respond to treatment and developed refractory septic shock.

"The Odia singer suffered cardiac arrest at 7.43 am today and CPR was started as per ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) protocol. However, despite all resuscitation efforts, he was declared clinically dead at 9.02 am," the hospital bulletin said.

Majumdar composed music for many blockbuster Odia films and lent his voice to many hit songs. He has fans all over Odisha.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik and several other leaders from the state expressed grief over Majumdar's demise. Majhi wrote on

Pradhan said in a social media post that he was deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear about Majumdar's demise. Pradhan said that through his unique musical style, Majumdar had created a special place in the hearts of Odia music listeners over many decades.

The Union Minister said, "His untimely demise is an irreparable loss to the Oriya artist community. Praying for the eternal peace of his soul, I express my condolences to the bereaved family members."

Patnaik said that Majumdar's contribution to the Oriya music world will always be memorable. He also expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members. According to Majumdar's family, the singer's mortal remains will be taken to his home in Cuttack, where the last rites will be performed.
