Action Against Several Social Media Users For Making Objectionable Comments On Prophet Mohammed In Kashmir, One Arrested

Kashmir Police has warned that legal action can be taken against those spreading such material.

Jagran correspondent, Srinagar. Anantnag district police on Monday said a case has been registered in connection with objectionable and inflammatory content circulated on social media, which has created concern and speculation among the public. An FIR has been registered against a woman for allegedly posting derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed at Mattan police station, the police said in a statement.

Police said the matter is being actively investigated. Police said action has been taken against several social media users accused of spreading unrest and attempting to disturb public peace and one of the accused has been arrested.

Police have urged restraint and advised the public not to indulge in speculation and share inflammatory material, while warning that spreading such material could lead to legal action.

The statement said the situation is being closely monitored and any attempt to disturb peace and public order will be dealt with strictly as per law.
