Jagran correspondent, Jehanabad. Former Chief Minister cum Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has given a big statement regarding the Rajya Sabha seat while talking to journalists in Jehanabad. While attending a private program in Shakurabad, he said that during the Lok Sabha elections, Home Minister Amit Shah had promised his son and Hindustani Awam Morcha national president Santosh Suman a Rajya Sabha seat. As per that promise, today his party is making this demand.

He clarified that his demand is not of any kind of disagreement or displeasure. We are completely dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and are part of the NDA, but it is not wrong to put forth our views and demands in a democracy. He said that he is expressing his views in the interest of the party and society.

On this occasion, Jitan Ram Manjhi also expressed deep concern about the alleged atrocities being committed on Hindus in Bangladesh. He said that such incidents are not limited to Bangladesh only, but in Pakistan too, there have been reports of discrimination and oppression of Hindu minorities for a long time.

Citing history, Manjhi said that Pakistan and Bangladesh were once a part of India, after the partition of the country, a large Hindu population remained there. The population of minorities in India has increased over time, while the number of Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh has continued to decline. This in itself is a matter of concern and should be seriously considered at the international level also.

Talking on the issue of religion, Manjhi said that people of different religions live together in many countries of the world. Giving the example of China and America, he said that people of different religions live there, but there are no such big disputes in the name of religion.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is serious about this entire matter and the central government will take necessary steps on the issues related to Hindus in Bangladesh. He said that it is in the interest of the country to move forward with peace, harmony and respect for all religions.
