Anurag Thakur Reached Supreme Court For Amendment In The Order Of BCCI Case, Hearing On The Petition Will Take Place After Two Weeks.

Anurag Thakur reached court regarding a BCCI case

PTI, New Delhi: Former Union Minister and former BCCI President Anurag Thakur has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking changes in an earlier order. In this order, he was directed to stop being associated with the affairs of the Cricket Board.

A bench of Chief Justice (CJI) Surya Kant and Justice Jaimalya Bagchi agreed to hear Anurag's petition after two weeks. Senior advocate PS Patwalia, appearing for Anurag, told the bench that on January 2, 2017, the Supreme Court had ordered that Anurag Thakur keep himself away from the functioning of BCCI with immediate effect and contempt and perjury proceedings were also initiated against him.

There is a demand for amendment

Patwalia said that this order was passed without listening to me. However, this Court later dropped the contempt and perjury proceedings. Now I want that the instructions regarding cease and desist (stay away from work) should be amended. The bench told Patwalia that the matter would be heard after two weeks, while all other petitions and applications related to BCCI would be considered after three weeks.

Amicus Curiae received instructions

The Supreme Court directed senior advocate Maninder Singh, the amicus curiae appointed in the case, to separate all the intervention and interim applications on the basis of issues and present them before the court. It is noteworthy that on January 2, 2017, the Supreme Court had initiated contempt and perjury proceedings against Anurag Thakur on charges of filing a false affidavit in the case related to writing a letter to the then International Cricket Council (ICC) President Shashank Manohar on the issue of autonomy of BCCI.
