Australian PM Albanese received bomb threat (file photo)
Digital Desk, New Delhi. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese received a bomb threat on Tuesday. The threatening email was received by a Chinese dance group, which is banned in China. He is going to perform in Australia this month.
In view of the threat, Albanese was safely evacuated from his residence and a thorough investigation was conducted. During this period he had to stay out of his residence for hours. Police declined to comment on the source of the threat.
What did Albanese say?
“We cannot take these things lightly,” Albanese said Wednesday. He posted a picture of his dog on Instagram, in which he is standing near the door of 'The Lodge', his official residence. In the caption he thanked the police.
A spokesperson for the dance group said the bomb threat was one of several emails that were sent to a representative of Shen Yun. It was sent to the group's local organizers and was in Chinese. The email claimed that explosives had been placed around the PM's residence and would explode if the group performed in Australia.
