Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2026 Live Updates: Will Bangladesh play in India or not?

Sports Desk, New Delhi. Bangladesh T20 World Cup Participation Live Updates: Clouds of uncertainty are looming over the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by India from February 7. The growing standoff between Bangladesh and ICC has raised a big question mark over Bangladesh's participation in the tournament.

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is to start from February 7, but before this tournament, the conflict between Bangladesh and ICC is increasing. Bangladesh team has today i.e. 21st January, the last day to decide and tell ICC whether it will participate in the tournament or boycott it? Let us tell you that BCB had demanded a change in the schedule or venue of the tournament citing safety concerns of the players in India.

He said that his matches should be shifted out of India to Sri Lanka. However, ICC rejected his demand and clearly said that Bangladesh will have to play in Group C only. ICC again gave Bangladesh an ultimatum to take a decision by January 21, but BCB is still adamant on its insistence.

On this, Bangladesh's sports advisor Asif Nazrul made it clear that Bangladesh will not accept any condition due to pressure from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Giving an example, Nazrul said that when India had refused to tour Pakistan, ICC had changed the venues. We have also made a reasonable demand to change the venue instead of withdrawing from the tournament.

This whole matter escalated when Bangladesh's star fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was released by KKR from its team on the orders of BCCI before IPL 2026. BCCI took this decision because of the killing of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Angered by this, the Bangladesh government banned the telecast of IPL matches. After this, citing the safety of the players, there was also a demand to change the venue of the T-20 World Cup to be held from February 7.
