Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission and the BJP over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists issued in the state ahead of the assembly elections and told the women of the state to be ready to fight with kitchen tools like rolling pin, khanti if their names are removed from the voter list.

Addressing a rally in Krishnanagar in Nadia district, Mamata said without naming anyone, will you take away the rights of mothers and sisters in the name of 'Shriman'? Mamta said that during the elections, mothers and sisters will be threatened and intimidated by calling police from Delhi.

He told the women that mothers and sisters, if your names have been removed from the voter list in the SIR, then you have weapons, right? Tools (weapons) used while cooking. You have strength, right? If your names are deleted, you will not tolerate it, right? Mamta said that women will fight from the front and men will stand behind them.

She said she wanted to see who was more powerful – women or the BJP. She alleged that I do not believe in communalism. I believe in secularism. The Trinamool Congress supremo alleged that whenever elections come, the BJP tries to divide the public by using money and bringing in people from other states.

Mamta also mentioned the mass Bhagavad Gita recitation organized by Sanatan Sanskriti Sansad at Brigade Ground in Kolkata on December 7. He said that we all recite Geeta at home when needed. Then why organize a public meeting? God resides in the heart.

He said that great personalities like Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose did not divide people. He asked- Then who are you?

Opposition accused of obstructing voting

The Chief Minister said that the people of Bengal, who fought for independence and sacrificed their lives for the country, will have to prove that they are citizens of India.

He said that you will decide whether you want to eat fish and meat or not. BJP doesn't even let you eat this. You have to decide yourself. Who will eat vegetarian and who will eat non-vegetarian is a personal choice.

Mamta said that an injured tiger is more dangerous than a healthy tiger. He said that if you attack us, we know how to counterattack. We know how to stop injustice.

He alleged that the BJP was planning to conduct elections according to the lists prepared by its IT cell. He said, remember, Bihar could not do it, but Bengal will do it, no matter what you do.
