Drivers protesting near Bhagalpur Tilkamanjhi Chowk

Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. There was a huge uproar in various areas of the city on Wednesday in protest against the alleged assault on a government bus driver. Angered by the incident, more than a hundred drivers from across the state took to the streets and protested, alleging delay in police action. Drivers say that the bus driver was openly assaulted, but the police did not take any concrete action in time.

On Wednesday, the driver first reached Barari police station in protest against the incident, from there he was sent to Tilkamanjhi police station, but was disappointed. After this, in the evening, angry drivers blocked the Vikramshila Setu approach road due to frequent detours, due to which the traffic came to a complete standstill for about two hours. There were long queues of vehicles on both sides. On receiving the information, Traffic DSP Sanjay Kumar reached the spot and after a lot of effort got the jam cleared. After this all the drivers reached the traffic police station.

The victim driver Sanjay Kumar has told in the application given in the police station that on Tuesday he had left Tilkamanjhi depot at 10:00 am by bus to go to Purnia. Car number BR 01 AS 9661 hit the bus from the rear on the left side near Mahindra Showroom. When he got down from the bus, the car driver started abusing him and calling himself a jailer and threatened to kill him.

After somehow getting out of there, two people riding a bike in police uniform surrounded them near Zeromile and started beating them. The driver alleges that after making the video, he was forcibly taken to the camp jail in an e-rickshaw, where he was beaten up again and Rs 3500 was collected in the name of repairing the car. The video was also forcibly deleted from the mobile.
