Bullets in the temple of justice, now walls will be raised, security will increase
Navneet Sharma, Bhiwani. The firing incident in the District Court complex has not only deflated administrative claims but has also raised serious questions on the security arrangements. In a complex which is considered to be the safest bastion of law and order, the echo of bullets being heard for the second time within five months exposes the major failure of the security system.
At the time of the incident, lawyers, judicial officers, typists and common people were present in the court, due to which the situation could have become even more frightening. After the firing, there was chaos in the entire court complex and people were seen running here and there to save their lives. After this sensational incident, the security arrangements of the court premises have come under question. Till now, police deployment limited only to the main gate proved to be a security lapse.
However, after the serious incident of firing in the District Court premises, the police and district administration have come into action. For the second time within five months, gunshots were fired inside the court, raising serious questions on the security of the court premises. After the incident, an atmosphere of panic has arisen among lawyers, typists, judicial officers and the general public. In view of this, the administration has decided to take concrete steps to strengthen the security arrangements of the court premises.
Till now the police force was deployed only at the main entry gate of the court, but now security will be increased in the entire court premises. Police personnel will also be deployed in lawyers' chambers, typists' seating areas, offices attached to the mini secretariat and areas with public traffic. Apart from this, special surveillance will be kept on five to six entry and exit points present in the court premises, so that immediate action can be taken on any suspicious activity. During the investigation, it also came to light that the wall near the typists is very low and is also broken at one place. Due to which the movement of criminals becomes easier. To overcome this security flaw, the administration has decided to raise the wall. Besides, increasing the number of CCTV cameras and reviewing the functioning of the existing cameras is also being done. After the firing incident, there is an atmosphere of fear among the common people, advocates and typists present in the court premises.
