Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. Taking the biggest action so far, the district administration has canceled 827 arms licenses in Doon against those possessing illegal and irregular weapons.
District Magistrate Savin Bansal said that this action has been taken under the Arms (Amendment) Rules-2019 and the guidelines of the Home Ministry.
This action has been taken against the arms license holders in cases of not generating Unique Identification Number (UIN) on the NDAL-ALIS portal along with possessing weapons more than the prescribed standard. The District Magistrate said that under the Arms (Amendment) Rules-2019, the Home Ministry has amended Section-03 of the Arms Act, 1959 and has reduced the maximum number of weapons that can be kept by a person from three to two.
Under this, 54 arms licenses have been canceled in the district. At the same time, 773 arms licenses have been canceled for not generating UIN on the National Database of Arms License and Arms License Assurance System (NDAL-ALIS) portal.
