Single use plastic is very harmful for environment and health

Plastic bags can enter the body along with food items and cause many serious diseases. Single use plastic harms not only humans but also animals, birds and plants.

Many times animals eat plastic bags lying in the garbage, which even leads to their death. At the same time, plastic thrown in rivers and drains is polluting the water, which is becoming a threat to aquatic life.

Strict action will be taken against shopkeepers and traders

Executive Officer Tanya Kumari said that due to all these reasons it has become necessary to impose a complete ban on single use plastic. This raid campaign started by the Municipal Council will continue in future also. Strict action will be taken against shopkeepers and traders who break the rules.

He also appealed to the common people to cooperate in this campaign. He said that whenever people go out to the market for shopping, they must carry clothes or a jute bag with them. With this, the use of plastic can be reduced to a great extent.

If any shopkeeper sells single-use plastic wholesale or retail, it can be reported to the Municipal Council. The name of the person giving information will be kept completely confidential.
