Jagran correspondent, Buxar. Important changes have been made in the second phase of the Organic Corridor under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKYV) running in the district. Now the assistance amount of Rs 6,500 for the second and third installment to the farmers will not be made available in cash, but directly in the form of materials like organic fertilizers, organic pesticides etc.
Organic farming is being done on cluster mode in a total area of 1,500 acres under the organic corridor in the district. In this, 1,478 farmers are associated through various groups. In the first phase of the scheme, farmers were given Rs 11,500 in cash every year for three years, from which they themselves purchased vermicompost units and organic fertilizers.
In the second phase, the rules were amended to provide Rs 5,000 for making a permanent vermi pit in the first year and Rs 6,500 each for the next two years. But now out of this Rs 6,500, only Rs 1,500 will be directly transferred to the farmers' accounts, from which they will be able to buy only certified organic seeds and earthworms.
In exchange for the remaining amount of Rs 5,000, the Agriculture Department will directly provide all the necessary materials like organic manure, Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Neem oil etc. as per the need of the farmers. Regional officer of the scheme Rishabh Raj said that the entire material of the second installment has reached all the blocks of the district.
This material will be delivered to all 1,478 beneficiary farmers within one to two weeks. This new provision will eliminate the possibility of misuse of cash and farmers will actually be able to get quality inputs required for organic farming. Many farmers have welcomed this change.
A farmer from Brahmapur block said that earlier he used to get money, but it was difficult to get good organic fertilizer in the market. Now if the department itself provides good material then our crop will truly become 100% organic. This new rule has been implemented in the district from this year itself and all the beneficiaries will be given assistance on this basis.
