Communication Assistant, Kishtwar. Kishtwar Police says that more than 150 over-ground workers of terrorist organizations are working in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is being told that more than 1,500 cordon and search operations were conducted in the district in 2025 as part of the anti-terrorism operation.
Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police Naresh Singh said that more than 151 OGWs are working in Kishtwar district. So far, 24 OGWs have been arrested and sent to jail and their network is being continuously monitored.
He said preventive action was taken against 97 people during the year. “These actions have significantly weakened the logistical, financial and intelligence networks that support terrorist activities in the region,” he said.
More than 1,500 cases were launched
The SSP said that the anti-terrorism operation against such networks in the district is an ongoing process. He said so far there have been five encounters with local and foreign terrorists in the district. More than 1,500 cases have been launched.
Under security arrangements, operations are continuing with deployment mostly in hilly areas. 36 people involved in terrorism fled to Pakistan and properties of 18 such people were confiscated. He said, 'The process of sealing the properties of others is going on.'
He said that the police remained at the forefront of anti-terrorist operations and successfully carried out six major anti-terrorist operations in the district.
369 out of 394 cases registered in 2025 were disposed of
He said these intelligence-based and area-specific operations resulted in the neutralization of three foreign terrorists, dealing a major blow to efforts to revive the presence of terrorist organizations in the difficult and sensitive areas of Kishtwar.
The police also recorded significant improvement in overall crime disposal. The SSP said that out of 394 cases registered in 2025, 369 were disposed of, taking the disposal rate to 93.65 percent, while in 2024 it was 86.98 percent.
To strengthen surveillance and preventive policing, the district has expanded its CCTV network to 1,831 cameras, with 389 new cameras installed during 2025, he said.
