A special team of police took Kairav ​​safely to his residence in Circuit House area around 4:30 am on Tuesday. With the return of Kairav, his family and the business class of the city have heaved a sigh of relief.

Kairav ​​returned home amid heavy police security, where his father Devang Gandhi and other family members hugged him.

Mysterious kidnapping took place on January 13

The incident started on January 13 (Tuesday), when young entrepreneur Kairav ​​Gandhi left his house at around 11:30 am to go to SBI Bank in Bistupur and then to his factory in Adityapur.

When he neither reached the factory nor returned home till afternoon, his family members started searching for him. His mobile phone also started switching off.

The same evening, the police found his car abandoned on the side of NH-33 at Kanderbera in Chandil police station area.

The car keys were still in the ignition and his mobile phone was found lying on the ground nearby. After this it became clear that Kairav ​​has been kidnapped.

Ransom of Rs 5 crore was demanded from Indonesian number

During investigation, the police came to know that the kidnappers had called Kairav's father Devang Gandhi on WhatsApp and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore.

The call was made from a foreign number (Indonesian code +62), which raised the challenge of the police. The kidnappers threatened not to inform the police.

7 police teams worked day and night

Jamshedpur Police had put in all its might to solve this high-profile case. On the instructions of SSP and DGP, 7 special investigation teams were formed.

The scope of police investigation had spread from Jharkhand to Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha. The angle of honey trap also came to light in the investigation.

Police had seen a suspicious white Scorpio car in the CCTV footage, which had a 'Police' sticker on it. Apart from this, a suspicious hatchback car was also recovered from Vaishali (Bihar), which was used for recce.

Political pressure and public anger

Anger was increasing in the city due to non-recovery of Kairav. BJP leaders and MLA Saryu Rai had put huge pressure on the police administration.

BJP had warned that if Kairav ​​was not released soon, they would launch a fierce agitation and reach out to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Traders organizations had also warned of city shutdown.

It is believed that the kidnappers succumbed to fear of the ever-increasing police raids and raids at various locations in Bihar-Jharkhand.

However, the police have not yet revealed where the arrest took place and what ransom was paid. Police may soon hold a detailed press conference in this matter. At present, Kairav ​​Gandhi is completely safe, but he is scared and scared.

- January 13 (Tuesday):

Kairav ​​Gandhi (24 years) left his house (Bistupur, CH area) at around 11:30 in the morning. He was going to go first to SBI Bank (Bistupur) and then to his factory in Adityapur. Neither returned home nor reached the factory till noon. His mobile got switched off. In the evening, his Creta car was found abandoned in Kanderbeda (along NH-33) of Chandil police station area. - 13 January (afternoon/evening):

The kidnappers made a WhatsApp call to the family (from Indonesian number +62) and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore. Threats were given for not giving information to the police. Police registered a missing complaint in Bistupur police station, later an FIR of kidnapping was registered.

- 14 January (Wednesday):

The ransom call was confirmed. Police started investigation and analyzed CCTV footage. Last mobile location was found in Sonari area. Trade organizations (ASIA, Singhbhum Chamber etc.) expressed concern.

- 15 January (Thursday):

The news of ransom demand became public. Police formed 7 special investigation teams. The investigation extended beyond Jharkhand to Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha. A white Scorpio with 'Police' sticker seen in CCTV (recorded at Pata toll plaza at 1:29 pm). The gap of 22 minutes (turning point) came in the investigation.

- 16 January (Friday):

No clue even after 96 hours. The name of Bihar's Kidnapper King (Chandan Sonar) emerged. 7 suspects were detained. Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth reached home, increased pressure on the police.

- 17-21 January 2026:

The investigation continued. The honey trap angle came to the fore. SIT formed, inter-state raids increased. No breakthrough even after 8-9 days. Political pressure: MLA Saryu Rai spoke to DGP, warned of agitation.
