Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. MCD employees and their dependents will no longer have to depend on treatment from government hospitals. Delhi Municipal Corporation has implemented MCDESH (MCD Employees Health Scheme) for its employees on the lines of Central Government and Delhi Government.
After which MCD employees and officers will get cashless treatment in private hospitals. Whereas earlier this system was stopped due to non-payment on time by MCD to private hospitals. Due to which MCD employees were dependent on Delhi Government hospitals and dispensaries for treatment. Under this project, permanent employees of MCD will get completely cashless treatment. Besides, payment for medicines and tests will also be made cashless. This proposal was passed by the Corporation House in September 2025. After this, the corporation has ordered to implement this scheme from January 1. There are about one lakh permanent employees in MCD.
At present everyone is getting medical facilities, but cashless treatment is not available because due to poor financial condition of MCD, hospitals were not able to get payment on time.
The hospitals which were on the panel of MCD refuse cashless treatment. The corporation has implemented this scheme on the basis of the report of the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Director Hospital Administration. The committee had pointed out the need for this scheme.
A senior MCD official said that there will be a separate account for contributions under the new MCD Employees Health Scheme. Payments to hospitals and testing labs will be made from the monthly contribution of employees in this account.
Due to which the employees will not face any problem in cashless health facility, because 70 percent of the employees do not take the benefit of the health scheme, only 30 percent take the benefit, then a rotation will be created. Due to this there will be no problem in making payments to hospitals. Under this scheme, MCD will issue medical cards to its employees in which the employee and dependents will be mentioned.
The poor financial condition of the corporation will not become a problem.
Under the old health scheme, monthly contribution was taken from the permanent employees of MCD, but it was deposited in the general account of the corporation. In this case, the bills for the treatment of employees were paid from the same account which came from the hospitals. Whatever money was in this account, payments like salary and pension were also made.
But many times, due to the poor financial condition of the corporation, payments to hospitals were not made on time. Whereas under the new scheme a separate account will be opened. In this, the monthly contribution from every permanent employee will be kept in this account. This account will be used only for this scheme.
