Under the schemes of the Central and State Government, loans are being provided to farmers at low interest rates through Kisan Credit Card, which is strengthening agriculture.
According to bank officials, the objective of the KCC scheme is to provide timely financial assistance to the farmers for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, harvesting and other expenses related to agriculture. Farmers who repay their loans on time also get the benefit of government subsidy on interest.
Distribution is being done from local banks
In Benipur and surrounding areas, applications are being taken under KCC and other agricultural loan schemes by State Bank of India Agriculture Branch Ashapur, Punjab National Bank, Central Bank. Farmers can apply directly by visiting their nearest bank branch.
For agricultural loan, farmers have to provide Aadhar card, land related documents (Khata-Khesra), crop details, passport size photo and bank account details. If the documents are found to be in order, the loan is usually approved within seven to 15 days.

Farmers taking agricultural loans also get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which provides financial security in case of natural disaster or crop loss. Local farmers Ramswaroop Jha, Nilambar Sada, Vikram Jha, Kailash Jha say that due to the ease of the process, they no longer have to depend on moneylenders. Cheap loans available from the banking system are proving helpful in handling farming expenses.
Avoid any kind of middlemen and avail the benefits of government schemes by contacting the bank directly. It is most beneficial for poor farmers to take KCC loan for farming. Provided that the farmers should also try to repay the KCC loan after selling the produce.
