Jagran correspondent, Shimla. State BJP President Dr. Rajeev Bindal has targeted the Sukhu government over the delay in Panchayat elections. He said that the government does not want to conduct Panchayat elections for the next six months, this is completely unconstitutional and undemocratic. Preparations are being made to snatch away the powers of the elected public representatives and hand them over to some officials. He said in the statement issued here that the government has recalled the funds released for development in Panchayats and has also stopped the work being done with the remaining amount. Due to this, roads, water, buildings and other basic development works have come to a standstill in the villages.
Families excluded from BPL
He said, by making new rules for BPL selection, names are being deleted from the BPL lists through Deputy Commissioners without any transparent process. In some districts, almost 90 percent of the names of old BPL families have been missing in the BPL lists published yesterday.
Panchayat representatives not taken into confidence
Ward Panch, Pradhan, Deputy Pradhan, BDC member, Zilla Parishad member have not taken anyone into confidence in this selection process. In various panchayats including Nahan development block, names of many people including Asha Devi wife Jiya Ram, Saddiq son Noor Muhammad, Parvati Devi wife late Mahipal, Rajni wife late Rajveer, Anita Devi wife late Maan Singh have been removed from the BPL list.
