Digital Desk, New Delhi. BJP MLAs from Meitei and Kuki communities have met for the first time since the outbreak of Manipur violence in May 2023. This meeting was seen in Delhi on Sunday, after which speculations are being made that BJP can form government in Manipur.

President's rule is currently imposed in Manipur. Last week, President Draupadi Murmu paid a two-day visit to Manipur. During this he had said that the hills and the valley complement each other. Along with this, he had talked about establishing peace in Manipur. Let us tell you that people of Meitei community live in the valley and Kuki tribe lives in the hilly areas.

President's rule will end in February

The meeting of BJP MLAs from Kuki and Meitei communities under one roof in Delhi proves the President's message to be true. In Manipur too, many BJP MLAs have called for government formation. President's rule was extended in Manipur for the next 6 months, now it will remain in force till February 2026. After this, consent of Parliament or Election Commission will have to be taken to extend President's rule in the state.

BJP's North East India in-charge Sambit Patra and Santosh had visited Manipur in November. During this, both of them had talked to the state leaders. More than 260 people have lost their lives so far in the Manipur violence that started in May 2023.
