Digital Desk, New Delhi. Delhi-NCR is covered with a layer of poisonous smog and despite the implementation of Group 4 restrictions, air pollution remains at dangerous levels. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average air quality index (AQI) of the capital was recorded at 427 at 7 am on Tuesday, which is placed in the severe category of air. Earlier, the average AQI was recorded at 427 at 4 pm on Monday. However, there has been some improvement in the average AQI of the capital since yesterday.

AQI remains around 400 in most areas of the capital. AQI has been recorded at 410 in Anand Vihar, 401 in Bawana, 377 in Burari, 383 in Chandni Chowk, 401 in ITO, 428 in Jahangirpuri, 425 in Mundka, 360 in Najafgarh and 387 in Narela, which falls in the severe category of air. Apart from this, AQI has been recorded at 437 in Noida adjacent to Delhi, 447 in Greater Noida, 444 in Ghaziabad, 345 in Gurugram and the lowest AQI has been recorded at 211 in Faridabad.

IGI Airport issued advisory

Due to thick blanket of smog, road and air traffic is also being affected. IGI Airport has issued an advisory for passengers amid flight disruptions. It said flight operations are gradually returning to normal, but some departures and arrivals may remain disrupted. Contact your airline directly for accurate and timely updates. Our staff are present at all terminals to assist passengers and provide necessary assistance.

What is the AQI in which area?

According to CPCB, an AQI between 0 to 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor' and 401 to 500 'severe'.
